I made maternity pants

7:34 PM Edit This 4 Comments »
I have a few pair of pants that I could live without but no maternity pants. My solution I made my own maternity pants out of the pants that I wasn't using. They didn't turn out half bad.
here is full panel over belly-yes my fat fat belly.

This is with the panel folded down, how I'll likely wear them most of the time

I only spent like 3 or 4 dollars for the material and I have pants that will last me awhile and are SOOO comfy.

Thanks to great friends and the find that resulted.

I have to give all my thanks in the world to a couple people who are truly special. Melainia- I never properly thanked you for my gifts. I love them so much thank you. It is crazy how thoughtful people you've never met can be. Jrandv-Wow, thanks for letting me borrow your doppler What a generous person.

Because of Jrandv's gift I've been searching for little mookitten. Mookitten was hard to find but when I finally did it was such a relief. It was funny because I went to the store to get some lube (that's what Jrandv instructed) for the Doppler. I got two bottles you know I want to be prepared. I thnk the cashier thought I was heading for a wild night.. It was a wild night just probably not what he was thinking.

1st OB appointment

6:29 PM Edit This 1 Comment »
Ok, So I go to a OB/GYN group so I'm gradually rotating through their docs. The doctor was nice, he took the culture for syphilis and gonorrhea. I told my DH he'd better tell me if I should be worried before the results came back. We both had a good chuckle about that. I've lost 6 lbs so far. My Dr. is happy with that. Not that I'm trying to lose weight but it means that I'm controlling my weight so I won't gain too much and I'm trying to minimize my GD risk.

Ok to the part that ticks me off. The US. You can see why right. Ummm it is blurr as all get out. Ummm seriously my ones from my RE were more clean and I wasn't as far along. I should be able to see my little gummy bear instead all I see is blurry white. WTF. This makes me soooo mad, that's all I can say.

Oh well mookitten is doing well. Measuring a few days ahead my EDD is now 1/10/10. We had a heartbeat of 169, which is good. It was 103 at 6w3d. I have another appointment in 4 weeks and they'll try the doppler then. Anyway it was exciting and disappointing but all in all I'm happy.

I want to BF, but how will I know if I'm not producing enough and starving my baby?
If I have a boy how will I change his diapers? I don't know how to clean the twig and berries on a baby.
What if I don't love mookitten? When I first found out I would talk to our little kitten and I was over the moon in love. What if mookitten is born and I just don't love him/her?

So far I'm feeling fine. I know many women have it worse that I do so I'm not complaining too much. As long as I have steady supply of popscicles I'm happy. My boobs are growing (still). My DH loves to look at them too bad they are off limits 99% of the time. I'm definitely bloated but haven't gained a pound. I'm kinda shocked since I feel like I weigh 500 pounds. I'm glad that my weight is staying stable and now that I'm feeling better I'm eating better so here's to a healthy pregnancy and a healthy mookitten in the New Year.

WE HAVE A HEARTBEAT

7:38 PM Edit This 1 Comment »
Yay, we heard little mookitten's heartbeat, well I should say "saw" it and the US caught it and showed it at 103 per minute. I was so scared that there wouldn't be one but there is. I am so happy I am beyond words. The morning sickness is starting and the only food I really want to eat is Olive Garden. I'll be making some of their recipe clones to eat so that way I don't have to go broke eating out everynight.
This journey is so exciting and I'm so happy I can share it with everyone. HEre's a pretty bad pic of my US, I'll try to upload a better one.

Just one babe in there. My RE said it looks like what it is supposed to look like. I have another U/S next Friday then he said I'll get released to just my OB. I love that I get another U/S. Let's hope Kitten grows this week so I can get released.

Nurse Appointment

Went in today for my nurse's appointment. She told me the things I should and shouldn't eat, drink, and do. I'm glad I went in because they did another Beta draw, can't wait to see those results and I got the ok for some Robutusim (sp?) for my cough and sniffles. I took some when I got home and was actually able to take a nap. Oh soo nice. I can't wait for Friday to see the little kitten. Tomorrow should go by quickly at work, we're going out for birthday lunch so it will break up the day.

Thank You Rsgrl :)

I am Pregnant. If all of the peeing on things didn't tell me that already the doctor did today. My count on Monday was 40.6. They said that was a good number and I have more blood drawn tomorrow.

I AM PREGNANT FOR CEREAL ..... OMFG.

I think the middle test says it all. wooohooo. I guess they are getting darker I don't have to squint to see them from a distance anymore... Yes I have an addiction to peeing on things.

Frustrated and Scared

Come on tests get darker. My IC was darker today but the FRER I took was possibly lighter than yesterday. I also took an answer brand test and it had a pink line too. I know they say it doesn't matter and sometimes the lines don't get darker, but that doesn't make me feel any better when in my head and heart I know they should be getting darker. Come on little kitten stop scaring mama already, you have years to do that, don't start now. New rule, kitten you aren't allowed to scare me before come home... understand. Now be a good baby and starting making that HCG so mommy can tell you are ok.

Ok 5 mins later, I took a digital... Yes +... yesterday I got a No -. Digital confirmation makes me feel so much better. Hopefully my doc will let me do betas today and maybe wed. for some piece of mind.

I guess I'm in an Asian mood. Tonight we are having potstickers again. This time they are turkey and mushroom potstickers. When I was cooking them it looked so pretty I had to take a picture. Here's my potsticker flower.

Also, with my potstickers I had my favorite appetizer. They are waterchestnuts wrapped in bacon and covered in a sweet bbq like sauce. So excited.

I was going to make this dinner last night, but we had a yummy breakfast for dinner instead. This Asian Mushroom soup was super tasty and very satisfying. I used this recipe.
I used rice noodles instead of soba noodles and ground turkey instead of shredded chicken. It was really good. I also topped them with some french's onions for the top too.

Day 24 of 365

Tonight's dinner was a little bit of a lucky accident. I thought I had some sourdough in my freezer from our CSA. In reality I had a loaf of rosemary bread. I decided to make a savory french toast.
First, I sauteed some onions and mushrooms in a touch of butter. Then set them aside. I Put two eggs and 2 tbls of cream together with about 2 tablespoons of parm cheese. Mix it all together and Dredge your bread in it like you would a regular french toast. Large slices of bread are best. Place the bread in the pan and pour the rest of the egg mixture over the top. I use the same pan I made sauteed the mushrooms in. Flip once the first side is brown and put onions and mushrooms on top of the french toast and sprinkle with cheese. Cover and cook for another 2-3 minutes until the cheese is melted and the bottom is brown. TASTY.

My DH decided he didn't want to try something new so he had a pancake, eggs and bacon. I also found out the best way to cook bacon. Check out this instructable

While I was at work I was contemplating what we should have for dinner. I thought about something that I hadn't had in ages and decided to see if I could find a quick recipe for it. On my mind was Paella. Ordinarily it is chock full of sea food and takes a bit of time, both of which I don't like. I searched out a simple chicken paella and made it my mission to make it mine.
I found a decent recipe and made some adjustments and I'll post my recipe. This recipe serves 2 but can be doubled or tripled easily.

Recipe:
2 chicken boneless chicken thighs cut in chunks
1/2 cup Chorizo sausage (fresh or cured)
1/3 cup onion
1/3 cup red bell pepper
1 Tbls olive oil
1/2 cup arborio rice (the kind you use to make risotto)
1/2 tsp each of tumeric, minced garlic, and cumin
a dash of salt
1 1/8 cup chicken broth
3/4 cup frozen pea thawed.

Directions:
Brown chicken and chorizo with half of the olive oil. Add onion and red bell pepper and cook until they loose a bit of the raw crunch. Remove from the pan and set aside. Place the rest of the oil in the pan along with the rice. stir the rice to cover with the oil and toast slightly. Add meat and veg back into the pan and add the spices. Add chicken broth and bring to a boil. Cover and reduce the heat and simmer until the rice is cooked. Between 20 and 30 minutes depending on your rice and your cooking heat. One rice is cooked add in thawed peas and cook just until the peas are heated through.

Enjoy like we did with a great side salad of organic greens, sunflower shoots, mushrooms, bell pepper and onion.

Today is left over day. My DH wanted some more of the chicken Alfredo. I warmed him some of that with some pasta and made him some garlic bread from a small baguette from the bakery, some fresh garlic, and some fresh local butter. He's also having a salad on the side (not pictured).

I normally like my garlic bread lightly toasted, but my DH likes it almost burnt. Gotta give the man what he likes. It is also nice my DH weighs all of 145 pounds. He can eat whatever he wants and makes it easier to make fun dishes for him. Me on the other hand, not so much. :)

**Edit***What did I have for dinner? 4 Girl scout cookies and some chips and salsa for a snack.

Pulled pork--recipe/instructions

8:16 AM Edit This 1 Comment »
So, I didn't really follow any recipe or anything when I made these but I'll give you some options on how you can make it for yourself. My crockpot is at work so I made this on the top of the stove but the crockpot would also work wonderfully. I took a pork roast(it was on sale) and a couple cloves of garlic, and an onion and put them in a pot. I put 3/4 of a bottle of my favorite bbq sauce and covered with water. I cut the pork roast up into big chunks so it would cook faster and I wouldn't have to add as much water to cover. I put it on the stove and brought it to a simmer. I reduced heat, but maintained a gentle simmer. I cooked it covered for about 1 hour and 30 minutes until the meat was tender, adding more liquid to cover after about an hour . Once the meat was tender and falling apart. I removed the lid and turned the heat up to medium to reduce the liquid left in the potuntil it was a syrup consistency. I removed the pork from the pot and added the last 1/4 bottle of my sauce to give it a fresh taste. I think next time I would also throw in about a 1/4 to half teaspoon of mustard seeds to give it some punch. You could do the same thing in a crockpot and just turn it on in the morning and let it cook all day and when you get home it should be ready.

Have left over potroast or pork roast? Shred some of the meat and heat with a bit of your favorite bbq sauce to get some decent tasting bbq sandwiches.
